Gab's 9th month birthday (Again without a Nanny)

Today is Gab's 9th month and yesterday was Ate Ester's last day with us. She requested to go home as soon as possible due to chest pain, abdominal pain, muscle pain and other body pains I can't describe. I am left with no choice, she does not want me to bring her to the doctor because she is only used to herbal medicines and "manggagamot" in our place. So there, she told me she is leaving at about 10 in the morning and she on her way at about 6pm. That's the time night trip buses leave Manila going to our place in Paracale, Camarines Norte.

I felt sad because she is leaving, although she promised she will come back once she's well but going to be indefinite. She has been with us for almost 10 months and I know she loves Gab as one of her "alaga". She even told me that during her recent vacation after christmas, she calls her two boys "Gabriel" most of the time.

Much about Ester, today's is Gab's 9th month and I need to plan something for him. I always cook or have a least a cake for him on his birthday, either me or Rey will buy one from Goldilocks or Red Ribbon. We have nothing on the fridge so I have nothing to cook. I don't even have ground pork for his Spaghetti so I am left only with buying him a cake as an option.

The plan is, Gab and I will go out once his awake and buy some cake in the nearest bake shop. We just can't let this day pass without preparing anything for him. We'll be taking some photos as soon as Rey gets home tonight after his office.

Happy birthday Baby Gab. Papa and I loves you.

My Baby Part 2

Today is a happy, tiring and fearful day for me.

Its our final check up at Medical City today to read Gab's skin test for Primary Complex. Its very relieving to hear that he gets a negative result. We just have to continue his Klaricid until Tuesday or so for his pneumonia.

Mothers and everyone, I am chatting with my sister in law, Ate Nina, while I'm writing this blog and she just told me that one of his brother, Gab's uncle, died of pneumonia at 4 months of age.

My point of view with pneumonia suddenly changed, I felt fear all of a sudden knowing it was the cause of death of one of my son's Uncle and now its my son who is sick of pneumonia.

I felt fear all of a sudden thinking what could happen to Gab. I hope, I really hope he gets well soon without any problem.

Ate nina told she was in tears when he was telling me about his brother. He died only with two of his aunties with him becuase Nanay Baby is also sick and in another hospital. Back then, due to hardships of life, people would tend to go to public hospitals.

(This post should have been posted last night. I was not able to finish it because my mother in law "visited us in spirit". Gab was sound asleep when he cried out loud and we can't stop him from crying while asleep. Ate Nina told me she also felt like her mother's presence at the same time.

Its my mother-in-law's birthday tomorrow, 27th January, so no wonder she actually visited us to request for a visit.)

Anything Under the Sun: Gas Tank Expiry Date, Ever heard of it???

Anything Under the Sun: Gas Tank Expiry Date, Ever heard of it???

My Baby

This poor boy was diagnosed with pneumonia and is under Klaricid antibiotic.  Hope he gets well soon from pneumonia.

We never thought that his on and off cough and cold since before Christmas would lead to pneumonia.  He was brought to the doctors several times but the pediatricians who initially checked him up never initiated to have an x-ray done to him.

Finally, we brought him to Medical City in Ortigas and thats when the pedia in Maxicare requested an x-ray done to him.

We would be back on Monday (25th January) to read his PPD test.  Please pray hard for us that the result will be negative.  PPD is the most sensitve skin test done to check if a patient is positive for primary complex.

Gas Tank Expiry Date, Ever heard of it???

Please communicate this information to your family and friends.

Have U ever heard about LPG gas cylinder's expiry date....!!
Do you know that there is an expiry date (physical life) for LPG cylinders? Expired Cylinders are not safe for use and may cause accidents. In this regard, please be cautious at the time of accepting any LPG cylinder from the vendor.

Here is how we can check the expiry of LPG cylinders:

On one of three side stems of the cylinder, the expiry date is coded alpha numerically as follows A or B or C or D and some two digit number following this e.g. D06.

The alphabets stand for quarters -

1. A for March (First Qtr),

2. B for June (Second Qtr),

3. C for Sept (Third Qtr),

4. D for December (Fourth Qtr).

The digits stand for the year till it is valid. Hence D06 would mean December qtr of 2006.

Please Return Back the Cylinder that you get with a Expiry Date, they are prone to Leak and other Hazardous accidents ...

The second example with D13 allows the cylinder to be in use until Dec 2013 .

Kindly pass this to every one,

and create awareness among the public

Thanks to my colleague Krizabeth Valmadrid who sent me an email regarding this.  Hope it will be helpful to all of us.

Signs of a bad babysitter

I am blessed with a good baby sitter.  Ate Ester have been with us since a month before I gave birth to Gab. She is from my hometown in Bicol and we regard to her as a family now.

We have had some misunderstandings before, I think it cannot be avoided. There were incidents where she would say good bye and wants to go home to her family just because of the things said to her (sometimes by me) that meant something else to her.  I am glad we were able to resolve it and she is still with us until now, of coure, without any plans of leaving us as of the time I am writing this blog.

I came across a good entry on some pointers that will help us check  if our baby sitter is good to keep or not. I might as well share it with you.

It's not always easy to know whether your child's caregiver is doing the job she's supposed to. To find out, you may have to do some sleuthing. Some parents who suspect something may be amiss rent surveillance equipment. But it's often possible to tell whether something's wrong without going to that extreme.

You may have trouble on your hands if:

• Your baby isn't happy to see the sitter and has become anxious and withdrawn. A regular caregiver can never replace Mom or Dad, but a baby needs to trust and love his babysitter. Perhaps your child and caregiver haven't bonded, or the babysitter just isn't providing the kind of warmth and comfort your child needs. As in every human relationship, having the right chemistry is important. (If you suspect something more serious is wrong, educate yourself about the signs of child abuse.)

• Your babysitter seems secretive about how they spent the day. How your baby and his caregiver spend their time shouldn't be a secret. When you come home, you're probably eager to hear about your child and what happened while you were apart. If your caregiver isn't forthcoming about it, either she's not good at communicating with you or she has something to hide. Even a caregiver whose English is limited should be able to convey the ups and downs of your baby's day, and will understand why you want to know.
 • Your baby has been in one too many easily avoidable accidents. A babysitter must keep her eye on your child and know what he's doing at all times to prevent injury. She may be leaving your child unattended as he sleeps or plays.

• You notice your requests aren't followed. Both of you are working together to care for your child, so a caregiver shouldn't act as if she knows more about him and childrearing than you do.

• Your babysitter often shows up late. An undependable caregiver will leave you in the lurch time and time again. Find someone who you know is committed to the job and considerate of your needs. Tardiness and unexplained absences may mean she's unreliable in other ways as well.

• Your baby often looks unkempt and dirty. If your little one's caregiver can't take care of the basics, it may be a sign that she's not on the ball when it comes to meeting your child's needs.

• Her stories don't add up. Never tolerate someone who steals, lies, or deceives you in any way. You have to be able to trust your caregiver for the relationship to work.

So far I haven't observe any of this from Ate Ester.   Gab is happy to see her almost all the time, he regards to her as playmate. My son is always clean everytime we make turnover, he is clean and does not smell bad or anything.  Ate Ester follows most instruction I give, if there are any that are not followed as the way I wanted, we discuss it and understands each others concern.

You may say I am lucky because I am able to keep Ate Ester this long.  Gab is now about 9 months. Hopefully we keep her long enough until my baby is able to talk and communicate in case we get a different baby sitter.

Little Big Bulilit

This boy now weighs 11.8kls or about 26lbs and is 75cm in height.

According to Gab's pediatrician, a baby should grow 3cm every month on his first 3 months, 2.5cm on his 4th to 6th month and 1.5cm on his 7th to 9th month.  You just have to add it on the baby's height upon birth and you will know if you little angel has an ideal height, he was 51cm when he was born.

We added up Gab's accumulated growth to his height when he was born and the ideal height for him now is 71cm.

Sadly, my lad has cough and colds since on or before Christmas, if I could only transfer his cough and colds literally to me or to my dog so I won't see him coughing hard or having that irritating sticky mucus coming out of his nose......Anak, please get well soon. I have to see you like that.

That picture was taken 6th Dec, I haven't taken any picture of him recently, I'll update this entry as soon as we have our latest photo taken.

We're All Alone - Rita Coolidge

I am not saying that I am an avid fan of Rita Coolidge but its fine with me if you will think I am.  Its just that, her song "We're All Alone" is another song that I love so much.  So here you go, feel free if you have any song in mind that you want to post, i'd love to have suggestions.

Outside the rain begins and it may never end

So cry no more on the shore

A dream will take us out to sea

Forever more forever more

Close your eyes and dream

And and you can be with me

'Neath the waves through the caves of hours

Long forgotten now

We're all alone

We're all alone

Close the window

Calm the light

And it will be alright

No need to bother now

Let it out

Let it all begin

Learn how to pretend

Once a story's told

It can't help but grow old

Roses do

Lovers too

So cast your seasons to the wind

And hold me dear

Oh, hold me dear

Close the window

Calm the light

And it will be alright

No need to bother now

Let it out

Let it all begin

All's forgotten now

We're all alone

oh-oh, we're all alone

Close the window

Calm the light

And it will be alright

No need to bother now

Let it out

Let it all begin

Owe it to the wind, my love

"Songs I Like"

Everybody loves music in one way or another.  I love it too.

I still remember during the "song hits time" I would borrow all my cousin's songhits because she always have a new one, copy all the songs that I know in a notebook that I specially assigned for songs.  I was able to make about 5 notebooks full of songs that I do not know where they are.  Would be happy to find maybe in my Lola's house in Bicol.  That's where I always all the stuff that I don't use frequently even before.  My lola loves to  keep the stuff we don't want, don't need and don't like so we can always retrieve it from her anything we need it, even after decades.

It was still during then when I am able to write legibly after pages and pages.  Honestly,  I now find writing with a use of a pen or a pencil so hard, even using the most beautiful sign pen.  Its because of my excessive of the computer, my hands are always looking for keyboard to write anything.

This is the first song that came into my mine.

I'd Rather Leave While I'm in Love
Rita Coolidge

I'D RATHER LEAVE WHILE I'M IN LOVE
RITA COOLIDGE

I'd rather leave while i'm in love

while I still believe the meaning of the word

I'll keep my dreams and just pretend

that you and I are never gonna end

Too many times I've seen

the rose die on the vine

somebody's heart gets broken

usually it's mine

I don't want to take the chance

of being hurt again

and you and I can't say good-bye

So if you wake and find me gone

oh baby carry you see I need my

fantasy I still believe it's best

to leave while I'm in love

Too many times I've seen

the rose die on the vine

somebody's heart gets broken usually

It's mine I don't want to take

the chance of being hurt again

and you and I can't say good-bye

So if you wake and find me gone

oh baby carry on you see I need my

fantasy I still believe it's best to

leave while I'm in love I still believe

It's best to leave while I'm in love

BILOG NA HUGIS ITLOG by Sexbomb - Election 2010

Let's be responsible this 2010 Election.

I think this phrase should not really come from me.  I feel guilty because I've never been a registered voter.  Never in my entire life. My reason's are not really valid, and I hate myself for that. When I was still studying I will be in Bicol during registration time and I cannot register there because I will be in Manila during election time.  So its like I will be giving chances to flying voters to use my name for their evil deed.

I hope someday our voting system will be just like our access in ATM (automated teller machine) we can do it anywhere we are in the Philippines. When that time comes I will make sure I will be a registered voter.

Hopefully, I will be able to contribute in my own small way for a successful, peaceful and meaningful election for 2010 thru this blog entry.  If you have a chance to vote, please vote wisely.  Bear in mind that in your vote your children's future will rely, our economy will rely and even the food we have in our tables will rely.

I've been hearing this song every morning few days ago and its easy to notice that the song was from Sexbomb girls.  Though I am not really fond of listening to the songs of Sexbomb, its not surprising that when you hear one of their songs you wont get wrong that its Sexbomb girls who did it.

One morning, when Rey and I were having our breakfast I commented out of nothing "huh, ano ba yang kantang yan",   obviously, I did not like the song.  Rey said its about the 2010 election and that made me search for this some. And thank you for this helpful link where I got a copy of their song.

May bilog, may bilog na hugis itlog
Mare, mare,
May ikukuwento ako sa ‘yo, puwede?
Oo naman mare! Puwede!

Simula na po ang automation
Sa darating na twenty ten elections
Sa automation bibilis
bibilis ang bilangan
Kaya lalong dapat nating bantayan
Nasa balota na, mga pangalan
ng kandidatong pagpipilian
Alamin na po natin ang automation
Paano nga ba’ng gagawin?
Ano bagong instruction?
May bilog, may bilog na hugis itlog
May bilog, may bilog na hugis itlog
Ang kailangan sa bilog
ay simpleng-simple lang
Itiman, i-shade loob ng bilog
Hanapin ang bilog sa tapat ng pangalan
ng kandidatong napupusuan
Ang bilog, ang bilog
sa tapat ng pangalan
‘Yan ang dapat nating markahan
Gets mo ba?
Gets ko na!
Gets na gets na talaga!
Computer ang magbabasa
ng ating mga balota
Kung mali ang pagmarka
Baka boto mo’y mabasura
Sayang!
Balota mo’y alagaan
Boto’y makapangyarihan
Huwag gusutin o dungisan
Upang tiyak na mabilang
Ang boto mo, boto mo
Makapangyarihan
Pumili tayo ng tuwid
ng may paninindigan
Tunay na lider na magsisilbi sa bayan
Yan ang kailangan
Kailangan ng bayan
Isang Presidente
Bise Presidente
Mga Senador puwede hanggang dose
Isang Congressman
At isang Party List lang
Huwag na, huwag nang dagdagan
Isang Mayor
May Vice Mayor
At kung ilang Konsehal ang kailangan
Isang Gobernador
At kanyang Bise
At kung ilang Bokal puwede!
Hanapin ang bilog
Sa tapat ng pangalan
ng kandidatong napupusuan
Ang bilog, ang bilog
Sa tapat ng pangalan
‘Yan ang dapat nating markahan
May bilog, may bilog na hugis itlog
May bilog, may bilog na hugis itlog
Ang kailangan sa bilog
ay simpleng-simple lang
Itiman, i-shade loob ng bilog
Ang loob ng bilog na hugis itlog
Huwag bibilugan
loob ang dapat itiman
Ang loob ng bilog na hugis itlog
Aw!!!

Back to Work

Anythingvanessa is now back to work.  Ate Ester came back on 7th January, as she promised. Thanks to my Tita Rose who convinced her to go with her back to the city as early as Thursday.

I am still not in my work mode. I even forgot to bring my cell phones in the office so I ended up asking my ever good friend Chel to lend me her phone  so I can text Rey.

Gamot sa Rahes ni Baby

Ano nga ba ang gamot sa rashes ni baby? Some would say wala, kailangan lang maingat kayo and laging malinis si baby para hindi magka-rashes si baby.

I am a mother too and I also asked the same question over and over, "Ano ang gamot sa rashes ni baby ko?" I have asked my elders what they did during their times as a mom to heal their babies rashes.  If you are a mother, you would know how it feels when your heart break when you hear your baby scream and cry when you clean their diaper area full of rashes.

Thanks to the wonderful Sudocrem na gamot ko sa rashes ni baby Gab ko. I discovered this from one of my Aunt who is a care giver in Jordan.  She took home this wonderful gamot sa rashes and gave it to me when we once visited her.  She said this gamot sa rashes is being used by her employer to heal bedsores of their mother who's being taken care of by Aunt.

When I used this gamot sa rashes I noticed that its effect can be felt in a few hours and from then on, I apply a small amount of Sudocrem to your babies diaper area to prevent having rashes.  I do this every diaper change of my baby.

So there, from now on, let's stop believing na walang gamot sa rashes ni baby. THERE ALWAYS IS!!! We just have to ask and ask "ano ang gamot sa rashes ni baby" and we will surely find one.  This gamot sa rahes is not available in the country, but most of us have relatives abroad who can always help us for our little angels' maybe we can asked them a little favor to buy us the wonderful gamot sa rashes ni baby.

Kinis Kamay with Jergens Ultra Healing Lotion

Jergens Jergens Ultra Healing Lotion 21 FL Oz is my new  favorite lotion since after christmas.  I have been using Jergens Ultra Healing Lotion 21 FL Oz every time I finish my laundry, after a refreshing bath and every after handwash.

I have been without Ate Ester since after Christmas when she went home to spend her vacation and the New Year with her family.  From then, I am the super yaya and mama to my baby Gab who is only 8 months old.

I am meticulous when it comes to laundry so I handwash all my babies dirty clothes every other day. I made kuskus-kula for a day-and-banlaw type of washing.  As expected, my hands will become rough due to too much soap I use  but no using this Jergens Ultra Healing Lotion 21 FL Oz.  Ariel detergent powder and Surf bar are my laundry buddies for almost 2 weeks now and after every laundry and handwash is Jergens Ultra Healing Lotion 21 FL Oz.  To my surprise, the skin my hands did not peel at all, but of course its not because I am using Ariel detergent powder that is so expensive compared to other detergent powders you could find in the super market.  I just realized its because I am using Jergens Ultra Healing Lotion 21 FL Oz that was given to my by my Uncle Molly when he went home for his annual vacation.

I think Jergens Ultra Healing Lotion 21 FL Oz is so good when it comes to dry skin.  I have tried lots of lotions that are especially made for dry skin  but I did not see much effect on them until this Jergens Ultra Healing Lotion 21 FL Oz.  I haven't check yet if Jergens Ultra Healing Lotion 21 FL Oz is also available here in the Philippines but I will surely will once I run out of supply.

here's what I got for my Kinis Kamay

Seasonal Full-Time Mom

It,s Gab’s 8th month on 29th December.  We are celebrating this during my "full-time-mom season". Like what we usually do every month for him, we prepare food for his birthdate, which is every 29th of each month. According to my husband’s family, this is done to avoid sickness for the baby during his first year. For me, I do it to celebrate my baby’s birth date every month and in belief of what they say as well. I think most families do this nowadays, so I do not really question it. Though I know I never had this during my time as a baby, I think this is not yet followed then.

I can’t explain how satisfying it is to take care of my son while our nanny is on her vacation. I’ve been a full-time mom since Ate Ester went home to her family on 27th December. She wants to spend the New Year with her 5 kids and husband since she had her Christmas with us. She will be back this January, so I will be a happy full-time mom until she comes back.

My son is now so “malikot” but I never got tired of taking care of him. I love watching him smile and giggles when he is playing I also love watching him asleep, most of the time, he is also smiling when he’s asleep. It’s what they say as ‘he’s playing with his angels’. I still find time to do laundry and cleaning his bottles even if he is awake. I just place him on his walker and he roams around the kitchen when I am working in the sink. That’s of course with all the barricade I can have for the places he’s not supposed to reach. He’s about to wake up now, so I’ll sign off for the mean time.

Farmville in facebook

Facebook is a very popular social networking nowadays, as popular as its Farmville application.   Almost all of my friends have facebook already before I finally register an account of my own.  Not to all of my friends surprise, they have been playing Farmville for a long time in Facebook before they finally saw me playing Farmville as well.

If you are familiar with Farmville, you will know that someone is playing on it because you will get notification everytime they update or play on Farmville.  Farmville is a real-time farm simulation created by Zynga.  Once you created you account in farmville, you can invite your facebook friends to be your farmville's neighbor, send them gifts or request gifts from them.

As a farmville farmer you are also leveled differently based on your cash earnings and experience points or XP. Kinds of seeds, trees, animals, buildings, decorations, vehicles and others can be purchased depending your XP and coins/cash available.

Personally, I can say this game can be addictive.  You have to be logged in always on Farmville to be able to harvest your crops in time or they'll wither and will be you loss.  That means you will not be able to get back the money you used to purchase the seeds and will need to spend again for another crop.

If you have lots of time to play Farmville online, go ahead be the master of your own Farmville.  But if you do not have plenty of time online, you can still have your farmville, of course.  You can follow the style that I am doing, instead of planting crops, I plant trees and take care of animals.  These will never wither and you harvest all its products anytime you go back to your Farmville town.

Happy Farmville playing!!!

SAN NA NGA BA ANG KADA NGAYON

(Where's Kada Now)

The original song was sung by  The APO Hiking Society.  Re-wording was done by Flordeliza Pelayo one of Kada members back between years 1995 and 1996.

I
Nagsimula ang lahat sa eskwela
Nagsama-sama dalawampu't isa
Sa kalokohan at sa tuksuhan
Hindi maawat sa isa't isa

II
Madalas ang tambay sa mga bleachers
Isang barkada na kay saya
Laging may hawak-hawak na cassette at tapes
Konting ugong lang, maghe-head bang na

Chorus
Kay simple lang ng buhay nuon
Kahit may mabibigat na suliranin
Problema namin laging kulang ang datung.
San na nga ba ang Kada ngayon

III
Sa pamliligaw kayo'y magkasama
Magkasabwat sa pambobola
Walang sekreto kayong tinatago
O kay sarap ng samahang barkada

IV
*Meron din naman mga alitan
Sama ng loob at mga tampuhan
Ito ay bagay na hindi maiwasan
Sa loob ng isang barkadahan

V
Nandyang awayin ni Teteth si Lanie
Feeling out of place naman si Vannie
Si Irvin, iniwan si Dayana
Dahil kay Reynald umiyak si Hilda

Repeat Chorus

VI
Sabi ni Jenny si Flor daw ay prangka
Minsan ito'y nakakasakit na
Ayaw naman ni Che che ng away
Bakit si Wendell kanyang inaway

VII
Si Danilo'y naging masakitin
Si Dennis man ay na-confine din
Ganun pa man sila ay di umaayaw
Basta't si Joel magaling sumayaw

Repeat Chorus

VIII
Si Jeffrey hanggang ngayon ay bulol
Si Michael kay Joy pumatol
Itong si Ryan nasa Tate pa
Jacq at Elton kayo na pala

IX
Contoversial si Jay sa Kada
Lourgie nasayang ang pag-ibig nya
Kailangan lang ay pakikisama
Ganyan lang talaga ang kada

Repeat Chorus til fade
